When You Only Have a Couple of Minutes to Finish Your Chapter

When You Only Have a Couple of Minutes to Finish Your Chapter
I’ve read the Silmarillion like five times. Every single time I read it I understand something that I didn’t realize before. I love it, but it’s not as polished as the Lord of the Rings for sure.
LOL that is right on target! I read the Silmarillion for the first time and when I got done I felt like I had been drinking from a fire hose and everything was just a blur of confusion... So I re-read it immediatly after finishing it thinking maybe it would be more understandable if I reread after having the first read through still in my recent memory... and... No not really.
I KNOW THAT FEEL BRO
Children of Hurin: *thousand yard stare with Vietnam flashbacks *
He wil never b able to finish his series
"And this is how you were born."
I make the same mistake over and over again and its watching movies first. I watched LOTR and TH before books and I want to cry literally//// Can't imagine characters, always think about the movie ones
Was going to say Forest Gump but you beat me to it
Starting the Silmarillion part of this skit with “wait, which character is this?” was painfully accurate
The histories and Gimli's lines are my favorites. Always brings me awe and wonder and smiles.
Its not “I still belief”. Its “I still believe”
Is that a Lone Wolf book in the first box there? Memories!
My listening to this on headphones like an audio hook while having conversations with the other half.... haha.
Caught between substance and style, which is why I never finished any of his books.
I’m convinced that Tolkien wrote the silmarilion way before lotr and even I dare say had footnotes before the hobbit. To create something so beautiful, powerful and in depth with so much lore Tolkien obviously had all these meanderings in the mind of his for decades. And was a lover of the bible. When aluew (can’t spell it lol) was about to kill the dwarves but was stopped by eru illuvatar is a direct parallel to God from the Bible stopping Abraham killing his son Isaac. The man was just an absolute genius
Malazan is the most overrated tripe ever written.
the mcu movies
I have ADHD. Reading out loud helps me enjoy it for longer periods of time and helps my concentration since my brain is hyperactive and loud.
For your average 'Tolkien connoisseur' it seems reading the Silmarillion is far less important than telling people you have read it, multiple times. By the way I have read it 0.2 times (in progress).
Not too much weight there??
there are two fire and blood books, im confused which one is part 1
the bobble head is the issue
from now on....I will listen every warning in the beggining of the video
1408, the mist, the shining, Charlie and the chocolate Factory, IKWYDLS, The Exorcist, Gerald's game, jurassic Park, etc
Best book series ever written by anyone anywhere
I finished the entire series in six months. I'm a legend. Right?
I amthankful for having all my friends be people who value their books cuz if they did this they would be beyond dead.
Good characterization. To state the obvious, the books definitely are different and you pretty much summed it up well.
I love it. And i guess it take You 30 min because reading speed, Tony Buzan books can help with that if You will invest some time.
I gotta ask, why holding arguably the best book in the series for this, at least use Crossroads of Twilight.
The first book I read from Tolkien was The Hobbit in my 15’s. Many times I have tried to read LOTR since then, always dropping it due to its size and the lengthy descriptive prose. Only now (28y) I am finishing it. But before LOTR, I gave Silmarillion a try. And man, that was a great trip. Although it isn’t an easy read, I felt less difficulty than many friends, probably due to being used to the Bible. The epic scale, concise prose, and the multitude of names and places of both books are really similar. Diving into Silmarillion felt like navigating the Bible. It felt like home.
One of my core memories was my father reading hobbit and lotr to me.
I have read A game of thrones and A clash of kings and I'm already addicted to it,btw can you throw some recommendations after I read the rest?(I might need some new book addiction)
hey mike where are you and where are new videos?
I was curious too. I hope he is ok.
Started reading book 1 and was putting actual effort in. Effort that made the book a chore to read. A page turner it was not. Slowest book ever. I hated it. I really tried to like it, but it was so damned boring. I refuse to read that far into a book one that can’t pull me into the story.
The Lord of the Rings movies are better than the books
As a wise prince once said… “IMMA KILL EM!”
1:01 actual genius way of breaking up the vid so I can only watch the non spoiler section. Thanks dude
The fantasy reading group I'm in got the news about Ms. Bradley's horrific personal life two years ago. Some were gutted, but I never like the book enough to get very far in it. We just got the news that the woman Ms. Bradley had a long relationship with was still very much alive and cashing checks from new sales of the book. Do not buy a new copy of this book unless you feel like supporting someone willing to overlook a partner beating and raping children.
😢
MZB beat and sexual abused her own and other children. You should Mention Moria Greyland's book "The Last Closet" as she is very much alive and had her story confirmed by siblings. MZB female partner turned a blind eye to some truly awful behavior and is still alive to get money from fresh sales. It seems appropriate to recommend used copies of the book for the nostalgic Wiccans and SCA member who want to read this again. I ran in or near both of the circles where MZB was an icon back in the day, and don't know a single person who can stomach this book now.
“Am I even enjoying this? Yeah it’s not bad actually” I felt that in my soul.
I just started unfinished tales, after that I'll probably read the Silmarillion again, maybe taking notes this time
The accuracy is accurate.
Bent page, bent page, bent paaaaaaagggggeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've only read the Silmarillion once so far, and it wasn't that difficult... For one thing, I remember that Sauron is basically a werewolf, or was when he was fully alive. I need to read it again. There's already something new to learn every time I read LotR, so I'll be learning a lot...
After reading through all these comments I wonder if the Malazan series, is “ The emperor has no clothes” type situations. If you know what I mean.
You can read Great Hunt in Shadows Rising, wow that's sort of amazing
The Hobbit is as perfect a book as can be. Full of English whimsy and charm. The LOTR is for a significantly older reader and it's the best fantasy book ever written. Not as perfect as the Hobbit but it's a harder thing to do. Still full of the same charm, but more patience is required. Sadly Tolkien passed away and there exists nothing else on this planet to compare. The Silmarillion are personal notes written by Tolkien in preparation for writing a story. They aren't a story written by Tolkien. That doesn't mean you can't enjoy reading them but they are a very different thing.
When I become a booktuber, I'll film all of my videos in front of a book case with only one book in it.
